The Attendant is a beloved chain of coffee stores in central London, known for transforming unique spaces into vibrant coffee shops. The sixth store at Bishopsgate is the latest addition, bringing the founders' long-held vision to life. One of the founders, who used to pass the location daily on his way to work, always imagined it as his coffee shop. When the site became available, the founders made an offer and their dream soon became a reality with our support.

WHAT WE DID:
How can we transform an awkwardly shaped unit into a functional and inviting coffee shop with ample seating for customers to eat and drink?
QUESTION:
The unit at Bishopsgate was an awkward shape that the previous tenant had not utilised well, lacking seating and effective customer flow. The challenge was to reimagine the space to create better utilisation and include seating areas for customers and gain landlord (British Land) approval.
THE CHALLENGE:
We started with a analysis of the space to understand the constraints and opportunities. Our strategic planning focused on optimising the layout to ensure a smooth customer flow and maximise the available area for seating. The concept design aimed to create a welcoming atmosphere that reflects The Attendant’s unique brand identity. We introduced ample seating areas that invite customers to relax and enjoy their coffee and food, making the most of every inch of the awkwardly shaped unit. Our design incorporated a blend of modern and mid century elements, aligning with the founder’s style matched with a streamlined budget.
